Karaoke Which Type of Discs Do I Need to by for a Karaoke

What’s this week’s karaoke machines question? Let’s dive straight in…

Question: Shopping for daughter and noticed there is a choice of karaoke discs or karaoke discs for use only with karaoke machines ( twice the price). Whats the difference if both play on the machine? ( apart from the price )

Thanks in advance.

Answer: Get CDG's (CD's with graphics), yes they are more expensive than the other ones which are just DVD's that can be used in any DVD player but the quality is not as good as CDG's.

Karaoke disk for use with karaoke machines are CD+G, which basically means the words are on the disk (thats the +G bit), normal disk dont have words, just the singing muted

If you have a karaoke machine that plays CD+G discs (most do) then the machine will either have a built in screen or it will have provisions to connect it to a monitor or TV set. The song tracks on CD+G discs contain the song lyrics that will be displayed on the screen and shaded in synchronized to the music.

I'm guessing the other discs are simply song tracks without lead vocals.
