Well here’s a question I just had to answering straight away:

Question: im an assistant manager in a pub in Australia. i need advice on what speakers amp and player is neede? any help would be great.. thanks

Answer: Hey Browny!! The same amp & speakers a d.j. or small band would be is what you are after. You want a very directional (unidirectional) VOCAL microphone to avoid blasts of feedback. A good sound shop rental department can help you out. You can rent-to-buy or hire someone to do it all for you. The Karaoke equipment is very specialized and key to it all working well is the library of songs. I’d call up a d.j. service if I were you. Then the job is theirs, not yours, unless the bar really wants to own equipment etc…. Good services have done Karaoke for years. You’re the boss. You can try different ones and see who works best with your crowd. Good luck.
