What Has Happened to the Website Karaoke Play?

A karaoke question that should definitely interest you all this week

Question: Karaoke play has been one of my fav sites for ages now. I tried to go in yesterday and its not at all as it should be. Does anyone know whats going on and if it will ever operate the same again. Please help lol.
Guys…i have found a great alternative site called Singsnap, its better than karaoke play in many ways. You can record and no need to sync as it already does it, loadsa tunes and great fun. Give it a go, much better than nothing lol. xxx
Answer: Apparently, the domain is up for sale now (two people have already offered to buy it). I really miss the site too – it was so much fun! But I don’t think it’ll be back. I’m a bit disappointed & upset as to how we weren’t even notified about its disappearance and given an explanation for it beforehand. I’m not an old member, but I know people on karaokeplay who have put in so much time & effort into their recordings. Not only were they not able to save their songs, but they also lost contact with all their friends. Although, fortunately, they been able to find each other back via other ways. I also heard that the fb & twitter pages for the official KP site is gone, with the owner nowhere to be found.

So sorry for the rant, but it just makes me sad to think that such a fun site could be gone in a blink of an eye. I hope this helped. Best wishes, my friend.

    It looks like it got hacked to me. It’s one of my favorite sites too!!! You can try karaokeparty .com until they hopefully can get the site up again. The fun feature on karaoke party is that you can have singing battles with other members. Somehow the program can pick up if you’re singing the right notes. It doesn’t have a great recording service for free members like karaoke play, but it’s fun until they get it back up. :)

    KaraokePlay disappeared into the abyss. I am extremely upset as I was a member and a religious one at that. I run karaoke at two bars and I loved going home, popping onto KP and singing like a mad woman. I really wish Jess had given us the heads-up about terminating the site. Pretty sad turn of events. Hopefully someone nice will buy the site and start it up again.

    I just tried to go in to record a new song and its gone! I’ve been a member for ages and i’m really sad that i didn’t get to save any of my recordings or anything to my computer :( Wish i could say that it would be back but from the sounds of it i don’t think it will..

    I just found out tonight that its gone : ( I had over `100 songs recorded and loved this site. Really dislike that its all erased.

    I’m very upset. I worked really hard on all my recorings, and now they are just gone. Now I have to put up with thekaraokechannel.com …which is HORRIBLE!!! The members on there are rude and hateful too. *sigh*

    well i did a little research and it says that its for sale so i wanted to get it back up and running so i put money in for it and they just took my money! :( so i think someone has really messed things up but the good news is that kp might be up and running soon so thx to the person getting it back up and running.
